Designer Sushma Patel Returns to Couture Fashion Week New York with Latest Fusion Collection

In her sixth appearance at Couture Fashion Week, Atlanta-based designer Sushma Patel will present her latest collection on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. The fashion show will be held in the legendary Grand Ballroom of the world-famous Waldorf Astoria hotel on New York’s Park Avenue.

Ms. Patel showed her first collection shortly after graduating from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in Mumbai. Since then she has consistently presented her designs at fashion weeks in a number of countries including France, Romania, Malta, and Barbados as well as her native India. She is one of a handful of designers who regularly has the privilege of dressing stars at red carpet events, such as the highly celebrated Bollywood Fashion and Music Awards. Ms. Patel’s fashion show will open the Couture Fashion Week event this season in New York City.

After less than 15 years in the industry, Sushma Patel has developed a loyal following. Her distinctive fusion of traditional Indian design and Western styles makes her fashions eminently wearable and unique. Ms. Patel’s use of vibrant colors, opulent hand-picked fabrics and extraordinary embellishments inspired by her heritage juxtaposed with modern approaches to cutting, draping and her innate ability to accentuate a women’s beauty, have made her a favorite of such trend-setting celebrities as Sofia Ali Khan, Alex McCord and Lisa Wu (Real Housewives of Atlanta).
