The runway show will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Avenue, in the heart of the city’s Fashion District.
Marcia Ganem’s designs represent a strong link between fashion, art and jewelry with the use of innovative techniques and materials developed through extensive research. One of these techniques, now Ms. Ganem’s trademark, is the use of recycled Polyamide Fibers, be they natural, dyed, or knotted with semi-precious gems. Through the use of new materials and the incorporation of native tradition, Ms. Ganem’s distinctive designs are both backward- and forward-looking.
The designer, who has been in business for over 16 years, is part of a select group that regularly participates in Fashion Rio. The great link between innovation and Brazilian cultural identity present in her collections has earned Marcia Ganem a place in the spotlight of one of Brazil’s most prestigious fashion events. She has also shown her designs in London, Paris and Tokyo.
Marcia Ganem has a production project committed to research, innovation and the continuous involvement of artisan cooperatives and productive associations. This project supports traditional handicrafts, creating new market opportunities and generating sustainability in the communities involved. Because of the intricate work with semi-precious stones incorporated into many of her designs, Ms. Ganem is also a member of the Brazilian Guild, a group of jewelry designers well known in the international market, as well as the group Joias da Cor do Brasil, which promotes Brazilian jewelry internationally. Marcia Ganem is president of Bahia Fashion and Culture – ABC Moda and the Institute of Design and Innovation.

Designer Danny Nguyen will present his stunning creations for the first time at Couture Fashion Week at 8:00 pm on Friday September 6, 2013. The runway show will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Avenue, in the heart of the Big Apple’s Fashion District.
Lurid fluorescent light spills over a shadowy figure working deep into the night. Exacting needles, spools of fine thread, and luxuriant fabrics find their way in and around the dexterous hands of this diligent artist. Reckless passion is cast aside and replaced by the brutal will of a true fashion designer. To describe Danny Nguyen’s talents with words would be as futile as identifying infinity with a number.
A native of Vietnam, now based in Houston, Danny Nguyen learned his craft at his mother’s side: cutting fabrics and assisting with designs and alterations. During this period, he developed and refined many of the essential skills of a fine fashion designer.Despite his now bolstering yet enigmatic personality, Danny Nguyen’s foundation in the fashion world is rooted in the soil of humility.
After settling in the rich and diverse culture of Houston, Mr. Nguyen opened his own studio for alterations and design entitled DNC (Danny Nguyen Couture). Here he pursues his dream which dances at the end of every needle he drives into his next exquisite creation. He is a son, a brother, and a friend but most importantly, he is the embodiment of a calling whose sound does not quiet until it has reached the end of the runway.

Andres Aquino, fashion designer, founder and producer of Couture Fashion Week, is plunging into the world of yachts and cruises with the launch of a luxury line of cruisewear under the brand Port of Style. For this line Mr. Aquino has joined forces with New York entrepreneur and fashionista Magdaline Delany, Founder of Oceanie Club and Entrepreneurs and Professionals’ Network. Port of Style will be featured on the runway at Couture Fashion Week, 8:00 pm on Sunday September 8, 2013 in the Grand Ballroom of the New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Avenue.
The Port of Style collection is a mix of exquisite swimwear and wraps. The wraps also double as beautiful gowns when worn without a swimsuit. The collection includes the first-ever fashionable life jacket. Andres Aquino, known for his designs of luxury gowns and his theatrical show productions, brings his distinctive flair to Port of Style. When asked how he arrived at the brand’s name, Mr. Aquino replied “I worked with my creative team to search for a name that would reflect the philosophy of this fashion line. Ports are exciting, bustling and fashionable locales. Since both Maggie and I are originally from the Caribbean, and are familiar with boats coming and going in the island ports, it made sense to include that concept. From the golden age of luxury cruises through today’s iconic liners, fashion has a special place in maritime experiences, and Port of Style strives to reflect that.”
According to Ms. Delany, “This nautical line is the culmination of a common vision that Andres and I have shared for our love of the seaside and ocean life. The collection is unique, stylish, eclectic and functional. The selection and approval of each piece was organic.”
The line is expected to be available online late in 2013.
Store and boutique buyer inquiries are welcome.
