One of the best kept secrets of New York Fashion Week is a gem of an event:Couture Fashion Week featuring couture and luxury collections. Launched in 2003, CFW is held twice a year presenting exceptional fashion designers from around the globe, along with world-class entertainment, red carpet photo ops, displays of fine art and luxury products, parties and receptions. Unlike other major fashion week shows, CFW is open to the public in addition to the press, VIPs, celebrities and the trade.

The next Couture Fashion Week will be held September 10-12, 2010 at the world-famous Waldorf-Astoria in New York City with participating designers from Dubai, Romania, India, Germany, Mexico, Russia, Australia, Italy, Spain and the USA, among other countries. Tickets are available online atwww.couturefashionweek.com/tickets.htm

“Couture Fashion Week was created to bring what I like to call ‘wearable couture’ and luxury fashion to the people and to offer the opportunity to upscale international designers to present in New York,” says event founder and producer Andres Aquino. “It is also a powerful branding platform for reaching high-end consumers as well as an artistic forum for creative stylists and makeup artists. In addition, we pride ourselves on using runway models of many ethnicities, rather than the homogeneous model type usually seen in the mainstream runway shows.”

The event features several different fashion shows each day. Each collection is as different as its designer, and styles range from avant-garde to classic. Many of the ensembles seen at the prestigious event are typical of those seen at the Oscars, Emmys and other red carpet events in Hollywood, New York, Palm Beach, Monte Carlo and Cannes. Many are well within the reach of the well-heeled fashion maven, others are more suited for a princess. Several past participating designers have sold gowns for over $1 million to private clients.

“Always expect the unexpected” says Mr. Aquino who is also a luxury and couture designer.

Couture Fashion Week continues to grow and garner worldwide attention from such media as Book Moda, Collezioni, Moda Style International, Fashion TV, NTDTV, World Fashion TV, and many others. In addition to the immediate attending audience in New York, over 600 million globally experience the event through press coverage in a multitude of languages.

Couture Fashion Week Partners with Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen For the Cure®

In its tradition of support for charity organizations, Couture Fashion Week New York has announced that it is partnering with the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® at its next fashion event.Couture Fashion Week will be held 10-12 September 2010 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on New York’s Park Avenue.

The Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® was founded in 1990 by friends of the late television journalist Benita Feurey — friends committed to keeping her memory alive by providing breast health education, screening, treatment, and other services to individuals in the five boroughs of New York City, on Long Island, and in Westchester and Rockland Counties. Since its inception, Komen Greater NYC has raised over $50 million. Seventy-five percent of net monies raised supports local breast health education, screening and treatment programs; twenty-five percent goes to national peer-reviewed research to find the cures. In 2009, Komen Greater NYC awarded nearly $4 million in grants related to breast cancer prevention, screening, research and support. The nationwide organization is supported by many celebrities including Ann Curry, Christie Brinkley, Ellen DeGeneres, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, James Woods, Laura Bush, Mimi Rogers and Trisha Yearwood, to name a few.

Since 2003 Couture Fashion Week has presented a series of couture and luxury high fashion shows multiple times each year in New York City, Palm Beach, and other selected cities and countries. The event presents runway shows by exceptional designers from around the globe and also features world-class entertainment, exhibits of fine art and luxury products/services, plus VIP dinners and receptions.

This coming season, Couture Fashion Week will contribute 10% of tickets purchased here to the Greater NYC Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Couture Fashion Week’s founder and producer Andres Aquino – who is also a seasoned and accomplished fashion designer – will present his latest collection at a special “Pink Night” at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday 11 September, with a representative of the Komen organization walking the runway in a custom-designed pink gown.

“We are delighted to cooperate with Greater NYC Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®“, notes Andres Aquino. “The organization does wonderful work. As a fashion concern, women’s health is especially dear to us because good health is fundamental to beauty.”

The Race for the Cure® will celebrate its 20th anniversary the next day, Sunday 12 September, with a 5K run in Central Park. Every year the Race for the Cure® draws thousands of runners from around the world along with many celebrities, press and VIPs.
